Often, we hear the phrase: “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” While there are some circumstances when this advice could possibly be helpful, there are other aspects of our lives where this advice should not be followed. One that comes immediately to my mind is relationships.
Whether it be a marriage, a parent-child relationship, a friendship, or a business partnership, it is vital that we all continue to invest time and energy into our various interpersonal relationships. Even if you feel you have the strongest bond you have ever had with your family, friends, or co-workers, if you never make the time to step back from the daily routine of life to deepen your relationship, it will eventually grow stale.
The team at Master’s Advisors feels very strongly about the importance of continuing to invest in one another. In order to make sure that we can provide you with the best possible service and advice, it is absolutely vital that we continually ensure that we are functioning well together and caring for one another as a team. Several times throughout the year, we take a day out of the office and spend some very intentional time together doing a “deep dive” into our team dynamics and how we can collectively better serve you, our clients and friends. On the outside looking in, some may be inclined to say that it is wasted time for a team as strong as ours to go to such lengths to find and solve problems when we already feel a sense of cohesion and comradery! However, our strength and unity as a team is due, in large part, to the resources we invest into each team member individually, as well as the entire organization.
What about you? When is the last time you have been intentional to set aside quality time to spend investing in the lives of those that are most important to you? How have you benefitted from someone spending that kind of quality time with you? We would love to hear from you!
