When I was probably about 10 years old, I went on my first big roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg with my Dad. I was very nervous about this ride, and Dad was trying to keep me calm as we waited in line. Right before we were about to board, he pointed out a sign that said how many people had rode the coaster (4 million + or so) and that they had never had an incident of harm. Clearly, I have always been a numbers guy, because this helped me feel much better about the ride!
Despite the trust I had in my Dad’s reassurances, this independent statistic is really what put my nerves at ease. The known probability of a safe ride, combined with the trust I had in riding with my Dad, is what allowed for an enjoyable time on the coaster.
At Master’s, we take the same approach to investing. We hope that many of you trust the decisions that our team makes and the reassurances we provide on the foundation of a strong personal relationship with you, but we also intentionally back that up with an investment process that attempts to give you the highest probability of investing success and is backed up by rigorous academic literature. We also maintain an internal Investment Review Committee to ensure we are staying on target with the objectives for our portfolios.
In our recent webinar on the current state of the market, we reiterated our investment philosophy which is centered on harnessing the power of the stock market to help you achieve your financial goals. We are privileged to have trusting relationships with many of you, but just like my roller coaster ride, trust and assurances only goes so far. We strive to back up that trust with a disciplined process to provide you with another layer of confidence in our team, just as that poster did for me.
How can we continue to help you gain confidence in the ‘roller coaster ride’ that is investing?
